Concert Pianist, Melvyn Tan joins Yulia Chaplina to talk about Beethoven as part of our new series, celebrating his life and work for his 250th anniversary.
Melvyn Tan established his international reputation in the1980s with pioneering performances on fortepiano and continues to cast fresh light on music conceived for the piano’s early and modern forms.
Tan possesses a profound understanding of his instrument’s history, its technical evolution and musical development, meaning he is able to perform piano masterworks on a late eighteenth-century fortepiano as comfortably as a modern concert grand.
