Writer, Presenter and Journalist, Jessica Duchen joins Yulia Chaplina on the second programme of our new series, celebrating the life and work of Beethoven.
Duchen writes for and about music, dividing her time between fiction, stage works and journalism.
Between 2004 and 2016 Jessica was a classical music correspondent for The Independent, and has also written for The Guardian, The Observer, The Sunday Times, BBC Music Magazine, along with others.
Her librettos include numerous choral works and operas for composer Roxanna Panufnik, including Silver Birch, commissioned by Garsington Opera and shortlisted for an International Opera Award in 2018.
Jessica’s novel, ‘Immortal’ was published in October 2020 and is based on the latest startling research into the story of Beethoven’s mysterious ‘immortal beloved’, which is what Jessica and Yulia talk about on tonight’s programme.
