Concert Pianist, Writer & Teacher, Jonathan Biss joinsYulia Chaplina to talk about Beethoven as part of our new series, celebrating his life and work for his 250th anniversary.
Biss has a very holistic approach to music as he pursues as broad a definition as possible of what it means to be a musician.
As well as being one of the world’s most sought-after pianists, a regular performer with major orchestras, concert halls and festivals around the globe and co-Artistic director of Marlboro Music, Jonathan Biss is also a renowned teacher, writer and musical thinker.
In 2011, he embarked on a nine-year, nine-disc project to record the complete cycle of Beethoven’s piano sonatas. Leading up to Beethoven’s 250th anniversary in December 2020, Jonathan performed a season focused around Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas, with more than 50 recitals worldwide including a performance of the complete sonatas at Wigmore Hall in London: https://wigmore-hall.org.uk/podcasts/beethoven-with-jonathan-biss
