Gareth studied with Alicja Fiderkiewicz at Chetham’s School of Music and with Joan Havill at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where he graduated with First Class Honours. He won the Leszek Dessent prize and was awarded the Premier Prix in 2000. During this time, Gareth attended masterclasses with Leon Fleisher and Dimitri Bashkirov at the Verbier Academy in Switzerland.
Following further study at the Academie de Musique de Maurice Ravel in France and the Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada, Gareth has performed as both soloist and chamber musician worldwide. Performances include recitals at the Wigmore Hall, St John’s Smith Square and concerti at St David’s Hall, Cardiff and the Mozart Auditorium in Zaragoza, Spain. He has been a regular recitalist at the Chelsea Schubert Festival in London and performs as a chamber musician throughout the UK and Europe.
As well as adjudicating at various festivals and competitions, Gareth is a teacher at Eton College and Charterhouse School.
